Sense of Tense

I made best friends with the past
And the future is my enemy.
It has tried to impress me
But it hasn't proven anything.
The future is just time
Wrapped in a blanket
Of new lies and false tomorrows.
I loved the past,
I hate the future,
And the present will forever be my acquaintance.
